Pay It Forward is a 2000 American drama film directed by Mimi Leder. The film is based loosely on the novel of the same name by Catherine Ryan Hyde. It is set in Las Vegas, and it chronicles 11-year-old Trevor McKinney’s launch of a goodwill movement known as ’pay it forward’. It stars Haley Joel Osment as Trevor, Helen Hunt as his alcoholic single mother Arlene McKinney, and Kevin Spacey as his physically and emotionally scarred social studies teacher Eugene Simonet.

However, it needs to be a major favor that the recipient cannot complete him or herself.
Trevor does a favor for three people, asking each of them to ’pay the favor forward’ by doing favors for three other people, and so on, along a branching tree of good deeds. His first good deed is to let a homeless man named Jerry live in his garage, and Jerry pays the favor forward by doing car repairs for Trevor’s mother. Leslie Dixon adapted the screenplay from the book of the same name by Catherine Ryan Hyde, which was available as an open writing assignment.[2] Dixon struggled with the adaptation of the book in part because of multiple narrative voices within it. Specifically, the reporter, the central character in the film, does not show up until halfway through the novel. Stuck, Dixon considered returning the money she was paid for the assignment.[3] She eventually hit upon the idea to start with the reporter and trace the events backward.[3] Dixon presented the idea to Hyde who in turn liked it so much that she decided to change the then unpublished novel’s plot structure to mirror the film’s.[4] In the novel, the character of Eugene Simonet was originally an African-American man named Reuben St. Clair. The role was offered to Denzel Washington, but he turned it down the role to do Remember the Titans instead. Kevin Spacey was contacted next and accepted the role of Eugene Simonet.
On November 19, 1999, it was announced that Osment had been cast as Trevor McKinney.
The film was shot from February 14 until April 18, 2000. Filming took place on location in Las Vegas, Nevada and on studio in Los Angeles, California, with additional shooting (for the bridge scene) taking place in Portland, Oregon.Soundtrack[edit]

On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval score of 39% based on 130 reviews, with an average rating of 5.04/10. The consensus reads, ’Pay It Forward has strong performances from Spacey, Hunt, and Osment, but the movie itself is too emotionally manipulative and the ending is bad.’[5]
Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film 2.5 stars out of a possible 4, stating ’With a cleaner story line, the basic idea could have been free to deliver. As it is, we get a better movie than we might have, because the performances are so good: Spacey as a vulnerable and wounded man, Hunt as a woman no less wounded in her own way, and Osment, once again proving himself the equal of adult actors in the complexity and depth of his performance. I believed in them and cared for them. I wish the movie could have gotten out of their way.’[6]

Leslie Dixon adapted the screenplay from the book of the same name by Catherine Ryan Hyde, which was available as an open writing assignment.[2] Dixon struggled with the adaptation of the book in part because of multiple narrative voices within it. Specifically, the reporter, the central character in the film, does not show up until halfway through the novel. Stuck, Dixon considered returning the money she was paid for the assignment.[3] She eventually hit upon the idea to start with the reporter and trace the events backward.[3] Dixon presented the idea to Hyde who in turn liked it so much that she decided to change the then unpublished novel’s plot structure to mirror the film’s.[4] In the novel, the character of Eugene Simonet was originally an African-American man named Reuben St. Clair. The role was offered to Denzel Washington, but he turned it down the role to do Remember the Titans instead. Kevin Spacey was contacted next and accepted the role of Eugene Simonet.
On November 19, 1999, it was announced that Osment had been cast as Trevor McKinney.
The film was shot from February 14 until April 18, 2000. Filming took place on location in Las Vegas, Nevada and on studio in Los Angeles, California, with additional shooting (for the bridge scene) taking place in Portland, Oregon.Soundtrack[edit]

The film opened at #4 in the North American box office making $9,631,359 USD in its opening weekend, behind Remember the Titans, Bedazzled and Meet the Parents, which was on its third week at number one.Critical response[edit]
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval score of 39% based on 130 reviews, with an average rating of 5.04/10. The consensus reads, ’Pay It Forward has strong performances from Spacey, Hunt, and Osment, but the movie itself is too emotionally manipulative and the ending is bad.’[5]
Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film 2.5 stars out of a possible 4, stating ’With a cleaner story line, the basic idea could have been free to deliver. As it is, we get a better movie than we might have, because the performances are so good: Spacey as a vulnerable and wounded man, Hunt as a woman no less wounded in her own way, and Osment, once again proving himself the equal of adult actors in the complexity and depth of his performance. I believed in them and cared for them. I wish the movie could have gotten out of their way.’[6]
Entertainment Weekly’s Lisa Schwarzbaum gave it a ’D’ grade, calling it ’reprehensible’ for using ’shameless cliches of emotional and physical damage’ and then ’blackmailing audiences into joining the let’s-be-nice ’movement’ in order to be transparent Oscar bait.[7]References[edit]

A Vegas casino has been evacuated after an overheated ventilation motor caused a strong smoke smell to spread throughout the venue in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The incident took place at the Las Vegas Excalibur Casino. Gambling consulting firms. MGM resorts spokesman, Gordon Absher, reported that hotel employees were evacuated from one of the Las Vegas Strip casino’s four towers when alarms went off at about 2 a.m. local time.
Guests and staff were evacuated for a period of two hours before being let back into the building.
Absher confirmed that there was no actual fire involved in the incident, but that the strong smoke smell spread fast throughout the 28 floor building because it started in the ventilation system.

NJGamblingSites reached out to several of the other Atlantic City casinos, and “nothing new” was the response across the board.
The Buffet page on the Golden Nugget AC website includes a brief statement:
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, The Buffet is closed until further notice.”
The restaurant page on the Tropicana AC website still shows the words “Temporarily Closed” across the Fiesta Buffet image.

* c. Deep Stack

* 2. The National Poker League will only apply to events with a stake of £100 and over
* 3. Two percent of the money collected in each of the above events will be kept to one side to form the prize for the national league
* 4. All money collected will be returned to the players as prizes, Grosvenor casinos are not applying a charge to this
* 5. The two percent will only be taken from the stakes and after any overlay, if there is one, has been calculated
* 6. Players will be awarded points according to a set criteria based on
* a. The cost of entry
* b. The size of the field
* c. The Individual finishing position
* 7. * 8. Players who enter an online Day 1 for a qualifying event and bust before Day 2, will be awarded a flat 4 points, should they not play any other Live Day 1’s which would result in a higher points score.
* 9. Only one entry will be counted per event and that will be the players last entry, initial entry only, re-entries do not count as last entry.
* 10. On multi flight competitions players finishing position will be determined by
* a. The level they went out
* b. The elimination time stamp of that player on card room magic
* c. This is regardless of which flight they play
* 11. The league table will be available weekly in all Grosvenor Poker rooms
* 12. The final standings will be available after 9am on Monday 11th November 2019 in all Grosvenor poker rooms and on GUKPT.com
* 13. The top scoring 77 players will be eligible to win the prizes
* 14. The player with the most points will win the Title of “Grosvenor player of the year” a diamond package and trophy
* 15. The next four players with the most points will also win a diamond package
* 16. The remaining 72 players (8 tables of 9) will play off for the remaining prizes
* 17. The play off will take place at the Grosvenor Victoria casino during the grand final on Saturday 23rd November 2019
* 18. The playoff will be for an estimated ten platinum packages dependent on the prize pool collected
* 19. In the event of a tie for any of the top prizes (before the play off) this will be decided by
* a. Number of top three appearances
* b. Number of final table appearances
* c. If there is still a tie after this the prizes will be equally shared and the title of player of the year will be applied to all players that have tied
* 20. The prizes will be as follows
* 21. The Diamond packages consist of
* a. 4 x £1,110 Main event seats
* b. 4 x £560 Main event seats
* c. 1 x £2,650 Grand Final seat
* d. A £2,000 accommodation allowance managed by Main event travel (no cash alternative)
* 22. The Platinum packages consists of
* a. 4 x £1,110 Main event seats
* b. 4 x £560 Main event seats
* c. 1 x £2,650 Grand Final main event seat
* 23. Where there is not enough money collected to create the full number of packages, the number of packages will be reduced accordingly.
* 24. Where extra money is collected via the 2% rake over and above that required to create the main prizes will be used to create more platinum packages.
* 25. Where whole packages are not able to be created GUKPT vouchers will be issued to the value of the excess.

Just last month PokerTube reported on the fate awaiting João Simão after knocking out his wife Luíza at the final table of the partypoker LIVE Latin American Poker Championships Uruguay Super High Roller.
The curious situation saw João and his wife Luíza battling it out 3-handed with Fabrizio Gonzalez for the tile and a huge chunk of cash, the married couple clashing in a hand which João won, sending his wife to the rails in 3rd and prompting a ‘win it or sleep on the couch’ warning from his better half. Let’s lay some groundwork. It was Day 4 of Event #23: THE MARATHON - $2,620 No-Limit Hold’em, and the remaining 22 players were just about to head on their dinner break. The guaranteed payout at the time was $21,434, and there was $690,469 sitting up top for the eventual winner.
Maurice Hawkins and Tim Reilly got involved in a massive pot on the last hand before the break. Hawkins had a healthy stack with around 4 million, and Reilly had an average stack with about 1.2 million.

’The hand should never have happened,’ Hawkins said. ’[Reilly] cold-called a three-bet out of the big blind for 20 percent of his stack with king-queen. It’s not a good spot over the long run.’
Reilly offered his own thoughts on the preflop action.
’The hand actually played out a little weird, because I didn’t see the open [from Turton]. Hawkins had been sizing up on my big blind specifically, and he made it 155,000 with the big blind at 30,000. I assumed he was attacking my big blind again. I had king-queen suited in the big blind, a hand I’m never folding even to 5x. I’d probably still flat his 3-bet because the original opener didn’t have a 4-bet bluffing range. I didn’t see the open, thought we were heads up and as soon as I called and saw the other guy, I thought that it could go bad. He ended up folding, and we went heads up to the flop.’
We go to the flop with Hawkins describing the action.
’Flop came , which is irrelevant because he should never have been in the hand. I bet 1/4 of his stack, and he called.’
’The look of shock on his face was pretty amazing.’
Reilly’s thoughts: ’I flop the nuts. At this point, Hawkins has been 3-betting pretty narrow with aces, kings or ace-king. I check to him, and he bets. I’m pretty sure he has either aces, ace-king, possible ace-jack. And of course, I call. ’
The turn then brought the , thrusting Hawkins back into a commanding lead in the hand.
’I had a boat,’ he explained. ’All the hands I have, they are boats. [Reilly] checked and I bet another quarter of his stack. Of course, he called.
Reilly had this perspective: ’The turn was a jack, which I absolutely hated. Because he was either 3-betting light with ace-jack or he has aces, and he’ll probably check back anything else. So I check there and he bets again and at this point I know I’m beat, but I can’t fold the turn. I just hope that somehow he gives up on his bluffs or I somehow hit a miracle one-outer which is never happening - well, almost never. I’m probably going to have to fold to as strong river bet, which is unfortunate.’
’But not this river,’ Reilly continued. ’The gives me the royal flush. I check the river, and he shoves. At that point, I just snap-called.’
Reilly reflected on the look of shock that Hawkins had on his face after the hand was over and he saw the royal flush.
’The look of shock on his face was pretty amazing. I’m not sure what he expects me to have when I call on the turn. Most likely I have a jack which gives me quads. He has the third nuts on the river at this point, and there aren’t any hands that I’m going to call a river shove with that don’t beat him.’
The hand was over, but the real battle had just begun.
Hawkins: ’Then [Reilly] looked at me and said, ’This ain’t the circuit. Go back to the circuit.’ That got me a little upset. I would have had six million in chips and finished in the top three of this tournament, no doubt.’

’That was on a different hand,’ Reilly responded when we told him about Hawkins’ comments. ’I called with king-high on the river, and he had 4-high. After that hand, he said, ’you’re so bad, you’re so bad.’ I replied, ’This isn’t the circuit buddy. So don’t come at me and talk sh*t because I’m going to bring it right back at you.’
So, what’s the history here?
Hawkins: ’I never met the guy in my life. Come to find out, he’s a Twitter follower who’s been kind of like a fan, so I guess he was caught in between trying to be a fan and who is truly is.
’He was making comments on my tweets, saying nice things and congratulating me when I won things. He was basically trying to get attention here and there, and I was responding.
’I didn’t know it was him until I started to look him up and that’s when I realized someone who I thought was one of my supporters basically lost his mind.’
Reilly: ’This guy just literally lies more than anybody I’ve met in my entire life. He knows who I am. He’s not going to admit that because he’s trying to belittle me. Whatever. We played together in PCA and I think he busted me in like 20th place. We’ve never had a confrontation, but he knows who I am. Normally, I just keep my head down, but I wasn’t having it anymore. And no, I’m not following him on Twitter (Reilly shows us his Twitter account to confirm he is not following Hawkins).
Was there contention throughout the rest of the tournament?
Hawkins: ’Yes, because every time I would lose a pot, he would say things like, ’Did you misread your cards? Did you not know you had two pair?’ You tabled your hand real quick.’ He said that after I lost a big pot on Day 5. We’re playing for almost a million dollars, and he needled me after I’d lose.’
Reilly: ’The next day I came in after making a point of talking with my friends and regrouping. We’re going for a final table, and if he wants to run his mouth and be like that, I’m just going to put my headphones on and ignore him.
’But I was running late, and I missed one hand coming in. And right when I got there he started. He said, ’We were going to wait for you, but we decided not to.’ Stuff like that right away.
’I put my headphones on, and he immediately played a hand horrifically. He called the river and snapped the hand like he had the nuts. I said something like, ’Did you think you had top set there?’
’That was wrong of me. And as soon as I said it, I felt bad. He went up to his wife on the rail, and I went up and apologized. Let’s just squash this right now. It’s a big day for both of us. Let’s play poker and leave the trash talk to the side.
’At that point he wasn’t having any of it, saying, ’Hey, man you’re a piece of sh*t.’
’He threatened me with, ’You don’t know where I’m from and I’ll see you outside the Rio.’ The floor had to come over and started standing behind him. At this point, I’m not going to say anything. I had to start ignoring it because it was getting too far out of line.’
Was this all part of the game? Was tilt coming into play?
Hawkins: ’Now, I talk a lot. I don’t get disrespectful to people, and I don’t needle people after they lose. I’m trying to have fun at the table, and he took to a level where he’s just disrespectful.
’He took it somewhere else because he’s never been in a big spot. He’s probably never been a star.’
’Then he started saying things that weren’t true about my character. And it got to a point where I let him know, ’you’re a grown man, you need to chill out.’ It’s more like he was jealous of me and he just didn’t know what to say. How about saying nothing. Just keep your damn mouth shut.’
Reilly: ’We developed a history during the tournament. He likes to talk at the table. I don’t. But if someone’s going to start chirping at me, I’m not going to sit by and take it.
’I don’t think he’s good for poker. He was bullying everybody. Trying to use his mouth and his angles and doing things that there just aren’t any need for in poker. I don’t think people that angle shoot and treat amateurs that way are good for the game. I don’t like people being bullied.
’So I just stood up to it. I was bullied when I was younger, and there wasn’t much I could do about it, but if someone is going to bully at the table, I feel like I can stand up for others. We’re trying to move the game into the light and trying not keeping in the back rooms.’
